Southwest Rocky Mountains.
Let us help you explore these wild, unique mountains and colorful desert
landscapes by horseback. We offer small, intimate rides into the
mountains along the edge of the Rio Grande River. Larger group rides
available upon request.

us at our river-side Lajitas Stables where your ride ascends almost 800'
up onto Contrabando Mesa. Peer down along the international boundary
formed by the Rio Grande River and look out deep into Old Mexico!

Sunset Ride
Think
cool evening breezes refreshing you as the sun paints the sky with a brilliant
red brush. Gold-colored light bathes the volcanic mountains, while
distant peaks appear close enough to touch. Two hours of pure magic,
Big Bend Style. Beginning times vary throughout the year.

Contrabando
Mesa Ride
Follow
the 800’ ascent up the Contrabando Mesa to a stance of breathtaking vistas
and wide open skies. This ride takes us along bygone smuggling trails
of yesteryear, implicitly following the Rio Grande below. In all
directions, we look out across ruggedly wild mountain terrain as our gentle
steeds take us for a ride through history!

Winding
up and out of the ancient gorge formed by the Rio Grande, we climb to the
mesa top and our destination, the Spanish Window. From this vantage point,
gaze out across the Big Bend Ranch State Park to a spectacular view of
the southern flanks of the Solitario Geological Formation. An Absolute
Spectacular Chihuahuan Desert Treat!

Cancellation Policies:
Advanced reservations for any trip is strongly recommended, though not
always required. A deposit in the amount of 50% of your total trip cost
is required to hold your reservation.
