The following directions are from the three major access towns along Hwy 90 north of the Big Bend & from the Heart of the National Park.

From Alpine, Texas

Drive south on Hwy-118 to Study Butte (approx. 80 miles). At Study Butte, turn right on FM-170 and drive west to Lajitas (approx. 17 miles), then proceed 3 more miles. We are on the right side of the road.

From Marfa, TX through Alpine, TX

Drive east on Hwy-90 to Alpine, then follows instructions above.

From Marfa, TX through Presidio, TX

Drive south on Hwy-67 to Presidio, TX (approx. 61 miles). At Presidio, turn left on FM-170 and drive east towards Lajitas (approx. 47 miles). We are on the left side of the road.

From Marathon, Texas

Most Scenic Route from Marathon, TX: drive south on Hwy-385 to Big Bend National Park Headquarters (approx. 69 miles). Turn right at Park Headquarters (Panther Junction) and continue west to Study Butte (approx. 25 miles). At Study Butte, turn left on FM-170 and drive west to Lajitas (approx. 17 miles), then proceed 3 more miles. We are on the right side of the road. Park entrance fees may be required via this route.

Quickest Route to Stables from Marathon, TX: drive west on Hwy-90 to Alpine, TX, (approx. 22 miles). From Alpine, drive south on Hwy-118 to Study Butte (approx. 80 miles). At Study Butte, turn right on FM-170 and drive west to Lajitas (approx. 17 miles), then proceed 3 more miles. We are on the right side of the road.

From Chisos Mountains, Big Bend National Park

To get to Lajitas Stables drive down out of the Chisos Mountains to ‘main highway’, TX 118. Turn left and drive towards Study Butte and out of National Park. Continue NW on TX 118 to the junction of TX 118 and FM 170. Turn left and drive west, 20 miles to the Lajitas Stables. *Note: you will drive THROUGH the Lajitas Resort. DO NOT STOP AT THE EQUESTRIAN CENTER IN THE LAJITAS RESORT. Continue west on FM 170, spying the Rio Grande on your left. Continue past the Big Bend Ranch State Park entrance sign.  Our Stables is on the right-hand side.
